Does any body have a part number and source for the fuel gauge for the 1872 ? Amazon has one for about $40.00ish, wow thats pricey.

MTD 751-0226 / 951-0226 or 751-0226A / 951-0226A or Stens 125-280.

I have recently purchased from both MTD and Stens. The Stens branded assembly is made from the same supplier Kelch, and is substantially cheaper.

If you shop around, one can be had for under $30.

You will be lucky if they work more that a year or so.
I have bought a few over the years and none of the work worth a crap after a while plus they have a tendency to leak internally, fouling the lens and read out graph.

When they quit making the float out of cork, the new material sinks in about 6 months.

Cool

A few of mine are 3 years old, and no issues yet. I do not use any fuel with ethanol in it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
