Default Deck Belt info.

Hi Folks. Maybe someone here can help me? I have an old Cub Cadet model 1863 with a 46 inch deck. I think there is a mistake in the belt sizes for the two belts. Does anyone know the length of both belts? I have a BP-105 and a BP 100. The BP-105 is 108 inches in diameter, and the BP-100 is 103 inches in diameter. According to my Cub book, the Deck Blade belt is #754-3039, and the Tractor to Deck belt is #754-3048. The place that I bought the belts is telling me that the Deck Blade belt is the 103 inch belt. If I put that belt on the deck, The pulleys rub against each other and I had to disconnect the tension spring to get it on.? I had the 108 inch belt on the deck and it seems ok?? So, I guess my question is, which belt goes where? Thanks for any help.. Signed...CONFUSED

First, welcome to OCC.........

There are (3) production runs for the 1863. To narrow it down, what is the Chassis Serial Number of your tractor. The tag is located near the LH Brake Pedal. It will start with 8xxxxx.

Thank you for the information. I don't understand why the deck belt is too tight. I had to remove the tension spring to get the belt on. It is not possible to get the spring back on now. Two pulleys are rubbing together with the spring off?? Any ideas?

The deck is not installed. I put the belt on with the deck off. The mule drive is fine.

I took the belt off and it only measures 102 inches. So, I will return it and order an official Cub belt..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
