Default Part Identification

On my 784, on the RH side, there is what I call a "mower depth gauge". It is riveted to the frame. It tells where your deck is, with respect to height. It goes from #1 to #8, with 8 being in the highest position. Occasionally, I have seen them on the Web for sale. I have looked in my Paper Library, as well as Cub Cadet's online lookup, and can't find a part number.

(A) what is the proper term for this part?
(B) what is the part number?

Is there a way to find the correct location to add one of those to a machine that doesn't have it? As I recall the older machines don't have any holes predrilled or marked in the frame. I always found it handy on my Uncles 1811 and my 782 doesn't have one.

I'll go & measure mine. I'll post it when I get it done.

I just went there. Plugged in 782, and I get the same as my original post.

I did find it under the 1811, though.

Plugging in 703-0828, here is what Cub Cadet says "where it was used"....

Bad search function from Cub Cadet.

We need someone from CC engineering who can run a proper "where-used" on their Production BOMs. Unfortunately, they might not even have them for this old stuff in searchable format.

If you type "782" the Pop up menu does not list this part.

BUT..... if you type in "146-782-100" (1811) the Pop Up menu shows the part, and part number.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
