Check your reverse and seat switch. Those are the 2 that must be closed for the relay to stay energized.

Do you have a schematic for you tractor? You will need to check your reverse relay.

Looks like the switch or the PTO clutch. It want's to blow the in-line main fuse if I try and flip the switch up and hold it, so the clutch was working. Would be nice to simply bypass that switch for a simple on/off since the rest of the safety stuff is long gone.

I have steering!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Oak and the others who pitched in and provided much-needed information to get my seals replaced. It took a second attempt to see what I messed up originally, but I've been mowing leak-free a handful of times this spring and the steering is working great. Even seems to have a bit less 'drift' from side to side.
THANK YOU AGAIN~

I think that is an impulse switch that activates a latching relay. By hold it on you are continuously energizing the coil for the relay.

Any thoughts on a currently available relay? I cannot locate the factory/original part-number online anywhere (ebay, messicks, partstree, etc)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
