Where do you look for CCs?
I've been looking for a 149/1450/1650 for awhile now and not finding much luck on FB Marketplace or CL.
Where else do you find older CCs? For reasons unknown, Maryland seems rife with them, but my half of PA and all of NJ have none. It's either a four hour one way drive, or $700 for a hacked up machine. |

I bought a mint (original) condition 1976 1450 on eBay for $2,500 in 2020. As Illinois is always swimming in Cub Cadet
Usually, PA and NJ are swimming in Cub Cadets. I am surprised you are not finding any.

I'm in Central PA and the market seems pretty dried up around here for decent equipment that you don't have to worry about getting tetanus by touching it. I've noticed selling parts on eBay seems to have dried up also. I've posted a few things and that don't get any page views. I think inflation has a lot to do with it. I've not hauled anything to my place in over a year.

Lots of tractors around me but way too high for the condition. Oak found a 2182, 20 minutes Fromm me but it did not last long. I am still selling a few things on eBay but it is 40% this year on what it this time last year.

Look at nearby properties and see what’s sitting in the bush, then ask the owner. I’ve always had luck with marketplace and CL.
You can also look on eBay and auctions.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
