New from North Carolina
New to the forum. I don't own a Cub Cadet but am hoping to see that change. I am thinking about an older IH Cub Cadet as a worker on my small property. I have a decent newer mower but am leery of all the plastic and light weight materials in the new machine's transmissions etc. I know CC has the history of being well built and long lasting. Don't plan to abuse it, but use it as needed. I have spotted two in different areas in grass and weeds within 5 miles of my place, so I need to check with those two owners to see if either is running or can be expected to run and if the owner is willing to swap ownership. In my mid 70's I am not seeing myself restoring or rebuilding anything. Just want to use it and enjoy it. There is another color nearby parked for 2 years with power steering but my understanding is that the Cub Cadet will be tougher for the long haul.
Glad to be here. |

Hello from PA. Glad you can make the party.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
