Xt2 engine issues
This is a model 13bpa1cs010. This thing runs good at half throttle or less but at full throttle it seems to drop a cylinder for a split second and comes right back to running good and then goes back and forth good to bad. Only does it when mower is engaged. Will run fine going full hydro speed. Had carb apart and it was real clean, no issues. Auto choke works right also. Very annoying when it surges back and forth trying to mow. Don't believe its a fuel issue now, new fuel filter and pump pushes fuel real good.

"Surging" is a sign of insufficient fuel delivery.

These emission controlled small engines are calibrated lean to begin with, and the slightest vacuum leak or clogged passage sends them into a tailspin.

So, you guys got me thinking, I changed the fuel filter and fuel lines, no change. Loaded it up and hauled it to my brothers place. He has an xt2 also. Switch fuel pumps and vacuum hose and same thing. His ran fine, mine ran like sh##. Changed carburetors, his ran fine, mine same thing. This is like beating a dead horse!!! Finally switched sparkplugs, yipee, mine ran like a champ and his ran like sh%#. Funny thing is mine has 180 hours and his has 342 hours. Something so simple and we overlook it. Lesson learned.

We all over complicate things at times, at least for me it comes with the
territory. But fortunately happens less and less all the time. Glad you got it. And we also all learn something every time we open the hood. That is a good portion of the enjoyment. Ken |
