I swapped out the tranny pump yesterday for the CV shaft coupler, and went over all the linkages and replaced worn snap rings, washers, etc. and tightened that all up, and reinstalled the rear, and installed the driveline. I got the fender and seat on last night. I really like how this is turning out. I'm going to need to do something about that hood hole though, there's a lot of air going through there when its running. I figure more yet when I get the side covers on.

I got it all finished up today, and took it for a little spin and then checked it over. Everything looks good. So then came the test. I have a patch of field that's been needing mowed, about 8"-10" standing grass and took a run through that. Wow, this engine is a beast. I didn't even hear it hit the governor much if any with the 50C deck. I know how the Kohler Magnum sounds in high grass, it growls when the governor starts feeding the engine. This thing feels like a tank driving it with the loaded rears tires and cast iron rear. I think I finally found an awesome combination of old and older cub, using the best of both. Of course it helps to have the entire tractor for parts too.

I have some rattles and noises, but I think it's most likely due to having the one side cover on and not the other (waiting for the exhaust extension). Here's a look at the other side. I left the wires kind of long to the regulator because I'm not sure where I want to put it yet. I stuck it there for now on the side of the dash where it'll get some air. I don't know if it needs air, but the Kohlers always have them through the shroud somewhere near the flywheel fan, so I figure they need some air to stay cool.
