I am pretty new to the Cub mowers but there does seem to be several different types of decks for each size of cut. I couldn't find a model number on my deck, it's been painted over the years and didn't want to scrape the paint off to find the stamped in numbers. Does you deck have the main deck drive pulley in the center of the deck? Mine is on the left spindle not the center. Does you deck have a rod going over the top of the discharge chute? Mine does. Is it possible your deck is a 42 inch not a 44? My deck housing measures more like 48 inches from the left side to the end of the discharge chute. The 1450 Cub I bought to make my crawler from had the drive pulley on the center spindle and was a 42 inch cut. |

Thanks for trying to help me understand this. I suppose it's curiosity
more then anything. But then again if I wasn't curious I would not own these things. It must just be the style of the different size decks. Yes the pulley the drive belt attaches to on the deck itself is dead center of the deck on top of the other center pulley. All inside of the hangers. It is a 54" deck though so figure that must be the difference. Glad your off and running. I suppose if I would have looked up the part number you gave from the get go I would have seen we were not talking about the same thing. Ken |

1862 belt routeing
Shortbus, be sure the idler pulleys are angled toward the right looking from the front of tractor and not facing straight back. If they are facing straight back it would wear your belt very fast with the deck you are using.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
