the Serial number is 2050594U684347 and it has the 782 and international sticker on the panel, I can not fine any other tags. It is a twin cylinder Hydro drive. nothing under seat. the muffler needs replacing all i find is on ebay and it is well used. I'm sure my neighbors would be grateful for any suggestions on where to purchase one. Thanks in advance Mike |

Obviously you have an early Cub 782 as indicated on the hood.
The later ones were made by MTD not International Harvester. Watch the auction sites for a GOOD Muffler and that someone did not remove it with a big hammer and beat it up. They are not cheap but a good one is worth the cost/effort. A lot of times the end caps rust through at the seam. A they can be welded up using act/oxy torch with a 000 tip if one is experienced at it. An arc or mig. welder is too hot and will not produce a desirable weld. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
