Default Steering has lots of play

On my 61- 63 there is a good bit of play in the steering. Id say if you started at 12 o clock it would go to 2 until it hit a stopping point. Is that normal or is there a fix. Its been awhile since I looked at it but I believe there was just lot of spacing between the gearing.

Post Axle link may be ovaled.

There's a pin where the linkage to the wheels from the steering and the actual hub for the driver side wheel is. usually if the front end is lacking of grease and it takes more to turn or if a wheel is stuck this pin would oval out causing play. the only fix I can think of is drilling the hole out and putting in a larger pin. or given on how my pin came out in pieces. a bolt or replacement pin of some kind. i attached a diagram of the front axle for some reference.

12 o clock to 2 o clock isn't bad really. There's usually play in the 3 ball joints and also some in the steering box itself.

All are easily serviceable (especially the ball joints).

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
