782 Kohler engine swap
I have a Cub problem. I have a new to me 782 and it came with a stock 17hp Kohler twin, with a broken rod and hole in the crankcase. I have a Kohler M18 magnum twin to replace. While moving parts from the 17 to the 18 I find the crankshaft in the 18 in about an inch longer. Can I install some kind of shim or spacer at the end of the crank? I’m thinking this is a fairly common swap, what did you guys do? Thanks, Ted in Ky

You also need to do some wiring changes, the KT had power to the points the Mag doesn't need power to the ignition but it will need a ground for the Mags to shut it off. This the wiring for a Command but the Mag is the same. You could use the ignition switch for something like the 1864 part number 925-3163 or you can use a relay.
