RZT 50 idle issues
I have a cub cadet RZT 50 that I am having engine issues with. The model number is 17WF2ACP010 and the serial number is 1L090h10248
When I first start the mower it idles really high for a few seconds and then calms down. When I engage the blades it idles really high again and then calms down. After that it cuts somewhat normal but any load on the mower (as in cutting somewhat high grass) makes it idle up or sometimes down. I have recently changed the air filter, plugs, and fuel filter with no change. I also reset the governor with no effect. I am not sure if the carb needs cleaned and I also saw something about an internal governor but I can't find an info or videos about that. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Don't know what engine you are working on but the Gov. would be
internal. Adjusted but the linkage/shaft on the outside of the engine. Wondering if there are adjustments for the sensitivity of the Gov. What engine is it? Do you have a manual for it? It should describe those settings for you. Ken |

It's a Kohler motor. I'm not sure of the exact specifics of the engine. I did "reset" the governor per Kohler but it didn't fix the problem.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
