Super Steer Axle Question
I have a 1512 Diesel Cub that I removed a 50" deck and placed a 54" later model tall deck on along with the hanger for it and used the 1512 mule drive. Has 12x12x24 rear tires (zero turn size) so the tractor sits just a little higher in the rear. Deck fits fine, mows fine, clears front and rear tires even when turning. Issue is when I raise the deck the rear will lift 1 1/2" and the front only about 1/2". I adjusted the front of the deck all the way up. I could go to taller tires on the front although they might hit the deck when turning. I have a Super Steer axle that I was considering installing that will move the front wheels forward although I don't know if it will raise the front of the tractor up. I measured the distance between the center axle pivot bolt and center of the spindles outer tip and both the Super Steer and the stock axle are the same 4". I have read several articles here with some stating it will raise the tractor 2" and others saying it will be the same height. Also some mentioned a difference between the 1861, 1862, 1863 & 1864 although when I look up the part numbers through Cub Cadet they show the same axle and spindles part numbers for all 4 models throughout their productions years. So my question is am I going to gain any front end height along with mower raising height changing axles with them measuring the same 4"? I know the axle will move the tires forward but that is not necessary.

Thank you! That information helps. Seems I have a Super Steer axle with the casting number of 719-3070 which came from an early 1862 for a 44" or 50" deck as it has the shorter spindles and the steering arm with two 1/2 holes in it for a power steering cylinder use.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
