LT1018 PTO Belt Issue

Good evening. The PTO belt came off and got damaged on my mower. I installed a replacement and it only lasted a few minutes of mowing before it came off. Strange thing is I don’t see a belt keeper on my mower so figure that’s the problem but I go on the parts diagrams and don’t see one. Hoping someone could point me to the issue or what diagram the missing keeper would be on.

Normally, vertical engine tractors with an electric PTO don't have keepers because the tension on the belt is constant, whereas manual PTO's mechanically release tension on the belt, thus needs for a keeper.

I think you need to give all the belt associated mechanisms on you deck a thorough examination. Sounds like something(s) are worn, bent , missing, etc. and belt route is out of alignment.

Thanks for the response. Knowing there isn't a keeper is definitely helpful. I will pull the deck and PTO pulleys to see if there's a bent/bad one and update in a few days.
