Could have sticky valves, that is varnish on the valve stems.
After running you park it and engine cools the valves stick, when you start, push rods are bent. Just a thought. |

What model Cub Cadet and which twin Kohler are you referring?
You might want try try Google search under "Kohler twin bent pushrods"..... some hits suggests the issue may possibly be oil related.

Hey Jag I think you hit it right on the head! I found one intake valve seemed to be stuck! A little WD-40 and a little hammer loosened it up! Runs good again! THANKS!! For how long who knows im afraid to start it again !0! I’m wondering if an additive would help?? Have you used anything that works?

Use PB Blaster and give the gas a shot of Marvrl Mystery Oil.
Seems as if you need upper cylinder lube for the valve stems. This winter will be a good time to pull the heads and clean everything. I have a early KT17 in my Cub Cadet 1810, I started using Shell Rotella 15-40 this summer, it runs much better with that oil. |

Ya man! I’ll try that stuff! PB & Marvel oil (don’t know what’s in it it’s a mystery) I got this POS from a friend of a friend don’t know much about it just that it was sitting for a while! From the shape of it years! Its a 07 i1046 zero turn lawn tractor with a kohler courage 20hp twin 230 hours! I enjoy bringing things back to life, but this one has been a real challenge! Thanks again for your good advice!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
