Un pinned the lift is free to float but it still has lift power, just no power down.
you don't want down power on a mower deck, just power lift.

I played with my new-to-me 1861 deck height limit today, and the indicator (next to the right foot) will go all the way down in its travel, indicating 1 or 2, but the limit stops it long before that. I'm accustomed to my 1811 where a cam literally stops it from reading any further (lower) than it's set for the limit. This might be stupid, or not depending on what your setup is, but I have no idea where my deck stops in regard to the deck position reading when talking about my 1861. I got it where I want it today (I got this tractor on Sunday) through trial and error and there is no indication of where the "stopped" position is. Hopefully this is the same with yours, because that would make it an easy remedy.

Thanks. I added a star washer between the cam and the knob, seems to hold it better when lowering the deck. I think it was just worn and tightening it by hand wasn't enough to keep it in the position.

Hey guys, I've read through this thread and am a bit confused. I'm attaching my rear blade to the 2084 and would like some downforce. I have some but not enough for some jobs.

So this 2nd pin to allow downforce - is that under the dash lever where it connects to the control valve, or under the driveshaft tunnel cover?
Also, what knob are we talking about??

Anyone have photos?

Related, can I rotate the down stop rod to limit the lift of my blade? It can break che chains if I lift it too high.
