The Old 1541
The old 1541 is all ready for yet another looooong winter. She is 62 years old and still going strong...Only had to plow once last winter and hope that trend continues. She lost some hydro fluid while in storage all summer and it must be a slow leak because I didn't need to add much.

1541 Tractor
The Cub Cadet 1541 tractor was produced from 1990 - 1991. This would make your 1541 about 34 years old.

The 1541 was one of the best deals ever. It was an 1862 without power steering. The same 18hp engine, drive train and hydraulic deck lift.
Over the years I have re-powered mine with a Kohler 23hp efi engine, added power steering and the super steer front axle set. I rewired it a couple of years ago since a lot of the wire insulation was brittle and falling apart. Still going strong.

1541
Any woman 62 years old and still going strong enuf to plow snow is a keeper! Sure, give her a little fluid once in a while to keep her warm and happy. She deserves it!
Say, does your wife mind that you call her "old 1541?" Seriously though...your 1541 looks great! Nice blade and cab to boot!! Have fun plowing snow this winter!!! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
