I heard the Cub Cadet XT2 GX54D is literally the same as the Craftsman T4400, just with minor differences. I wonder if the Cub Cadet would also have a floating gas tank? Now that would be fun research.

The only differences besides paint color are the front axle and steering arms on the Craftsman, so you have a tight 6-inch turning radius, and the Craftsman has a Kawasaki and not a Kohler engine.

The XT2 GX54 D has the same gas tank setup, i.e., no strap to hold the tank. The tank neck and fuel hold the tank in place.

Another vote for "dont lube the steering pinion gears" on my Cub GX54D. I tried grease thinking this would help , it worked awesome until debris got all jammed in the gears with the grease. Ive done quite a few mods on my 54D , my top suggestion is to add a dedicated ground wire from the battery / frame mount to the engine block. Cubs are notorious for electrical problems and its my conclusion that its from poor grounding and moisture . I also added dielectric grease to all the electrical connections .
