New Owner of 169
Need some help folks. I am the proud new owner of a Cub Cadet 169, riddled with problems that I am more than willing to fix, in order to use what I consider one of the best machines ever built! Here is a short list of my bigger probs that I need help with.
1) Need an operator/repair manual. 2) Need to know what type & size of pin goes in the shaft that connects to back of motor going to transmission? It is missing? 3) Where to find add-on implements both front and rear 4) Weights and counter weights, where they go, and where to find? Any help would be greatly appreciatted! I currently have a 28 hp John Deere, that I quickly donated to the wife when I got this machine. I have waited a LONG time to find this machine and am truly excited about getting it going!! I had a much smaller one a few years ago, but had to let it go due to circumstances out of my control. But now have this one and am looking forward to full use. Because as my grandsons call it this is our tractor - the REAL machine !! |

Dannsher:
1) You dont need to go anywhere else! What technical info isn't on already this site is readily available from knowledgeable members! Just ask... 2) The Operators, Service and Parts Manuals for the Model 169 are available from www.binderbooks.com. You will also want to get a Kohler K-Series Service Manual for the engine. 3) That missing pin is a IH-19837-R1 Dowel pin (1/4" x 1 1/2") available from any Cub Cadet Dealer. 4) Add on implements?? Advertise in the Wanted Section below....You should also order the IH CPE-2 Parts Manual for Cub Cadet Equipment from Binder Books also...Very helful! 5) Wheel weights and a front counter-weight bracket with weights were options when new. Wheel weights are often available for sale...again post in the wanted section. The front weight brackets are often fabricated and configured for the type weights to be used....Again, ask for a pic of one! Myron B |

First, Welcome to our Forum.... An Operator's Manual is available from our Technical Library Section. Look for Manual - Operators - 1x8/9. Myron answered the rest.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
