1610 pto
I have a 1610 with a PTO that quits after a couple minutes of running at full throttle. It will shut off and not restart after a couple minutes. I am almost positive a relay is shutting it off because I can here it click again if I shut the tractor of listen to it. I just don't know why the relay is tripping. can anyone point me to a wiring diagram? or does anyone have any suggestions? Suggestion tried: snug PTO bolts 1/8 turn.

The 1610 has two different Wiring Diagrams, depending on the Serial Number range. What is your chassis serial number..??

Your symptom is similar to what is occasionally seen on Garden Tractors. It sounds like the "air gap" adjustment on the PTO is excessive. Click on this link and scroll to page #11 for the procedure to check same.... LT PTO

I was told by someone to try an 1/8 turn to the pto brake plate just to see and it didn't help but I'm going to try to get feelers in there. Thanks for the .pdf.

I air gapped the pto, and that wasn't the problem. I could loosen the bolts up and it would still engage. There is a small rectangular relay or circuit breaker that says 12v 8a. That was shutting off the pto. I disconnected the 2 wires and spliced them together and it works fine now. I ran it for a while keeping an eye on the wiring. never got hot or anything. So I guess I just need one of those relays. Thanks for the help there.

On another note as with my 1811 my tractors have trouble pulling the ll my front yard is. The 1811 and the 1610 you have to out the hydro lever as fast as they will go to get up it. Both tractors will start bogging down when the governor pushes more fuel into them. I tested the 1811 half throttle set hydro speed to half, went down hill: fine, turned, as it started back up slowed and stopped. Throttled up and nothing. moved the hydro lever to fast and started up the hill with a little bogging. I believe there is something wrong with the hydro and I don't know where to begin on them. Oil has been changed and I fixed the worn part of the linkage where the spring rides. someone had mentioned to me that the pressures could be off.
