Default 149 hydro question

with the machine pulling a load of wood today finally doing what it was purchased for, sweet I was wondering if anyone else has this issue! I've noticed that when I'm say no load just using it for point a to b transportation and run it flat out as fast as it can if I back off just a little the engine doesn't struggle nearly as hard and seems to go just a fast. What I'm wondering as at one point in my pulling some loads up hilly terrain I may have kept pushing the lever to that point to keep it moving at a good pace! But when it hit that point the Kohler was really chugging already and just started dying out real quick till it actually died. It and made me wonder if all do that or if i need to adjust something on the linkages? I'm thinking worst case if all do it I may create some manual stop to not allow it to go that far maybe but want some opinions! OH and I have done the tunion welding fix but believe the other plates could use replacing as they were a little worn, as that fix stopped all the jerkyness but i still increases speed every now and then all by its self in unpredictable spots.

here it is in front of the many loads! way more fun than a wheel barrow and wagon!! Got to get the tires loaded and some weights on it!

If the engine is dying, you don't have a hydro problem. This could be a fuel delivery issue, improper timing, etc but we can't tell you much based on the information you've given us. Pull the choke a bit next time it tries to die; if that helps, then you have a fuel related issue. If it doesn't, you probably don't.

cool will try that!! and my k321 doesn't have the timing inspection hole in the cover any idea how to verify in that event?

I didn't think of it earlier as well it does not have the kohler type coil either and I haven't installed a resistor yet and it finally caught up to me and killed the coil today but i had a spare so i got the last load to the house!

anything else i could provide info wise and i will!!

I agree. If it is chugging and trying to die you need a tune up or something engine related. Your cub should not even realize that trailer is back there loaded with wood.

My 149 I got it right before that last big snow of the season. Shoving huge piles of snow it would lug down to the point it was going to die if I didn't pull it back to neutral. Of course at that time, the motor was worn out and it had a sloppy throttle shaft, both probably were contributing factors. Even in it's poor mechanical condition, it was pretty amazing how much snow it would push.
