I'm sure shipping can be an issue, but www.Jackssmallengines.com has good pricing on Onan parts if you're thinking of rebuilding. The original rods had a hole cast in them that made them inherently weak (if lasting 20+ years is weak?) and the new rods are solid. I've seen rebuild packages for a little over $1,000 with the new style rods. The Onan is a powerful engine that makes a lot of torque. The rear pto and 3 point are nice options that add value to your 982. I have a 442 pto tiller, and it's fantastic packaged with the 982. Nice looking tractor, good luck!

Default New guy from Saskatchewan

Try a Cummins Western Canada dealer they sell onan parts. Least ways the
one Saskatoon does and they are fairly reasonable with there prices.

That's a great-looking 982, eh?
Good Luck with your engine re-power. Lots of good help here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
