What turns hard, the hydro unit?
You mean it turns hard by hand? |

Donovan M. if the pump was ran dry you could possibly have damaged it. Does not take long to smoke a piston pump running it with no oil. I have a hydro pump you can have if you would like it. I do not know the condition as I acquired it in one of my past cub deals and it was just in a box of parts. I can bring it to the Pageant of Steam show next week if you like.

Thats a tough call, they don't turn particularly easy by hand anyway...but I would suspect running it with no or very low fluid for however long it was run, may have damaged the pump. Your best bet in my opinion would be to snag another good pump from someone, they are pretty easy to find on-line, or put a wanted ad up here on the forum. Its possible to take it apart and repair it, but for the trouble involved and cost of new parts, you'd be better off to find a good used pump and bolt it on.
Good luck, Jeff (teet) EDIT: Dang Kelly your quick!!! hehe

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
