Couple of things

1 you need that splash gasket in the carb, if I remember right both used the same type of gasket.

2 nothing wrong with the walbro carb, except that there is no high speed adjustment, and YOU HAVE to get the spring set right on the float

3 someone said that if both carbs are dong it, look else where, I agree with that statement

4 run a filter on you fel line. Briggs make a nice small filter that will fit behind the air filter housing. Dale told me about them years ago and I use them on all my stuff.

5 be sure you have the float set right. And Id use the carter carb

Default Spring

Vince mentions a spring on the float. I don't ever recall seeing a spring on mine.

Thanks for all the help

The walbro carbs typically have a tiny little spring that connects the needle to the float, IIRC.

you mentioned boiling fuel, I had a cub do that after replacing the fuel line, The line would get hot from the head after using it for awhile and the tractor would die, then be fine after things cooled down.after rerouting it everything worked fine.

Green Acres,

It is ironic that you mention the fuel line. This morning I was thinking about this. I seem to think that when I did the rebuild, that hose was replaced and it was not a fuel hose. Therefore, I am going to replace it.

Thanks for all the support.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
