Default 4-cyl. 1440

Hey all,
I was throwing this out there to get some general feed back and people's opinions on the subject. I have a 1440 with a blown engine. Also I have an original 4 cyl gas cub motor out of a cub lo-boy. (We transplanted a 3 cyl. perkins diesel into the lo-boy). I was considering putting the 4 cyl. gas engine in the 1440 and possibly swapping out the old aluminum hydro case for a spare hydro out of a parts 125 i have laying around. Just curious if anybody has tackled anything like this before or even heard of it being done.
Thanks,
Sam

I would be concerned about how much that 4 cylinder is going to weight and what that would do to your steering...

The steering box in a 154 Lo Boy looks a lot similar to a Cub Cadet's, and is built by Ross, also. But is a lot larger.

Thanks for the input so far fellas, I think the stock steering will be alright, if it breaks then I'll know where the weak point is lol. Mr. Cubcadet, I can grab a few pics of the lo-boy when I go back home for thanksgiving. Just a warning she is a little rough, (ok alot rough) but is still very functional.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
