I'm thinking my closure plate looked like this one: Ebay Number 200752869143
and I just went a few tho' into the plate, so the spring had a pocket to sit in--prolly didn't need to do it.
If you wind up @ the same dimension, it should work.

Thanks, I think the oil pressure relief issue is sorted. I called Alderman's today, they have not come in yet, but parts guy is confident they will.

Fingers crossed.

Yes it seems that they have caught Big Foot! You believe it?? All the way out in the tiny village of Lennon Michigan!! Oh wait, maybe it wasn't big foot, it might have been a mermaid? Or was it a unicorn?? A Lepricon??? No that wasn't it, what was it???????????????????????

Oh yeah, it was a brand new set of .010" Kohler connecting rods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They called late yesterday

Now I need to find time to get out there and pick them up! Working late today, insurance adjuster coming to the house tomorrow, working Saturday.

Maybe I can convince the wife to run out there? Only danger there is she'll come back with a new tractor, and want me to scrap my 782

I sure would miss her.

The wife, that is!

Finally got the KT put together on the bench last night. New .010" under rods, ground crank and new govenor assembly.

I left the heads off, installed the oil filter (filled it with oil prior to installation), flywheel, and starter. I used a "jumper box" to spin the motor over. It did build oil pressure rather quickly. At least there was oil coming out of the port where the pressure fitting goes.

I didn't get that last time, no oil there at all.

I think we may be good to go??

I was going to take some pictures, but too much oil on hands and such, to mess with a camera.

Looks good. You going to give it the smoke test before you put it in the tractor?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
