I am a shipwright/boat builder in Newport RI. I graduated from the International Yacht Restoration School and now, I work in a shop that specializes in restoring and replicating classic wooden boats. I wanted to be an astronomer or an astrophysicist but I had a childhood fantasy about building wooden boats, sailing around the world and all that so I decided to try it. I've done plenty of the building part, but not so much of the sailing around so far.

Retired after 39 yrs at GM. Wore many hats over the yrs. Machinist, developed and implemented fastening strategies, statistical process control and finally a production trouble shooter for the 3800 Series of engines. Loved my job, but I love retirement more. Been retired since 05, shoulda done it sooner.

Read through all of these. Very impressed with the cross section of folks interested in the same hobby or addiction "CUB's"!
Jan 2 2014, This is my first day that I am not going to work! Tomorrow I will be 62 and the moons were aligned to try my turn at retirement. I have been blessed to work at good jobs in the rubber industry for 40 years. About 1/2 that time I did drafting and design of products and molds. The last half has been project management and manufacturing engineering. Cheryl and I raised our four kids, and put them through school. We have 6 grand kids and new grand daughter in law. Maybe that means I am getting old ![]() Now I am looking forward to a little less stress and some more home type projects, some Cub related too. I have several that need attention! Regards, Chris

I worked as a journeyman machinist at McDonnell Douglas for 33 years and retired at the age of 52. I'm 58 now and thinking of going back to work. I worked on the f15 and the apache and was flight safety certified which means I made most of the moving parts that made them fly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
