Made sure it was in neutral, set the brake, disengaged the PTO and turned the key. No matter how many times I have done this I am always anxious to see if it will start.
![]() The seat is painted, but I want to let it dry another day or two before I mount it. Then I will try driving it. This was first start so still need to do some tweaks. Want to recheck the point gap and of course dial in the carb. https://youtu.be/fCuChoLuIXc |

It happened to me last week. A friend brought over his Case 444 with a K321 running terrible. I pulled the carb and did a thorough cleaning. Put it back together turned the idle and high speed jets down to their seats and then I was interrupted before I could set them to their initial settings. An hour later went to start it and it just cranked???????
![]() Fortunately only took me a minute or two to remember that I had not set them up. All was well after that. |

I tried starting my freshly rebuilt K301 with the coil+ wire hooked to the - post on the battery. Took me a few minutes to find my goof up.

Took it out for a spin this afternoon. https://youtu.be/A8VicwlGbk4
Now I have to work on the hood. It is a little out of shape, but not too bad. The cross piece is broken out, but as part of my spare parts I have a hood from a 73 that has the piece. Measurements looks like it should fit. I can't use the 73 hood because it is shorter than the 100 hood. I also have the 3 pt hitch painted so that can get installed in the next day or so. I am also going to have to make a decision on what I want to do with the tires / rims..... |

You're better off making a new hood brace out of thicker metal so that it doesn't break again. Trying to cut the brace from the other hood would be a lot more work than making a new one. No reason to ruin one hood to save another if you don't have to. I made a new brace for my 100 from 12 or 14 ga.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
