Maybe he fills his garage up with sand, and makes a ramp, then he drives them up there then removes the sand.

2182 was not starting. Tracked it down to just simply needing new battery cables. The old one were corroded inside when I opened them up.

I built ramps with a sliding rod lock system, and I use a winch to pull up/let down the vehicles. At 6'3" & 260 I used to muscle things around, but, but after creating pile after pile of old calender pages, big jobs require different strategy. One of my dads best lessons was, "if you work smart, you shouldn't have to work hard". I didn't stop for tractor going up pics. Please excuse the chaos, this was last year as we were moving in. In the 2nd pic you can see the brackets that the ramps drop over, then the rods are slid in to block them in place.

This is the same day as the previous pic. Our granddaughter came out for a visit and when she sees the cub, she makes a beeline to it. It's probably her last ride with "Poppy", as she's growing up too fast. PeterJ

I was replacing the steering joints on the 1641 today and found the gasket holder on the steering box out of position. The picture is not very good but you can see it hanging. If I decided to remove the box I assume I can separate it at the joint between the top and bottom section.

Good point Terry, I wonder why it has two balls and a shaft, and the driveshaft has 4 balls?

I guess the low rpm doesn't require as many balls?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
