Did a little refresh on the 44C I converted to an A for the 1250. Wire brushed the underside, etched it and coated with POR15. Pulled the rebuildable spindles apart and cleaned them up and put new seals in. The old ones were bad and installed wrong. Wire brushed under the belt cover, etched it, primed and sprayed some white Rustoleum I had. Doesn’t match but it’s a worker. Sprayed some Fluid Film between the deck and support plate to keep the elements at bay. Greased the tensioner and the wheels and she’ll be good to go for quite a while.

Spent the morning working on my Cub Cadet 1215. It's what I use to cut the lawn and the first cub I've owned. The wife bought it for me about 15 years ago. Before that, I used a push mower on our hilly 1/2 acre of lawn. Needless to say, it's been a big help. Regardless, it was dying when going up hill and by the way it was sounding, I figured it was struggling to get fuel. First I checked the fuel filter, but that was ok. Next, I focused on the fuel tank. It seemed a little grungy, so I pulled off the grommet with the fuel petcock and found the screen totally squished with a big glob of debris on it for good measure. I cut the screen right off as it was a mess anyway and squeezed the whole thing bank into the fuel tank without doing too much damage to the grommet. No leaks so far and the 1215 is back on lawn duty.

In the afternoon I turned my attention to my 108. I had the steering components all back in place and the next thing to tackle was the governor linkage. I replaced the well worn governor arm, spring and added the high speed stop that darkminion_17 pointed out was missing. I really didn't appreciate how bad those old parts were until I had the replacements in place. Anyway, the first time I tried to set the high speed adjustment, the engine started racing after a while. Fortunately, it turned out that I didn't have the governor arm fastened down tight enough on the governor shaft. Fixed that and re-focused on the amount of throttle cable at full throttle to have sticking through the clamp on the speed control bracket. Right now I'm at about 3500 RPM at full throttle, no surging and that's where I'm going to it at for the moment. Reason being is that now the starter generator belt keeps popping off. I'm taking the starter generator in to get rebuilt anyway as the brushes are pretty worn, so I'll have to figure that out later.

As for the steering, well the slope is gone and it steers far better, but it feels like the power steering that was on my fathers 1967 Galaxy. Something is obviously not tight enough, so another thing to take a second look at.

Still, a good day all in all.

Used my 108 to haul mud and weeds from the bottom of our property to the top of it. This was the first work that my 108 has done since I have owned it (and probably a few years before that).

Made a little matching wagon to go with my Grandpa's tractor I restored. It was an old tire display trailer from my other Grandfather's gas station. Turned out kinda cool for kid rides
