Thanks Sam. I worked on the 1872 today as we got another inch of rain last night so I was not able to work the garden. I noticed that the volt meter I installed was only showing 12 volts when it is at WOT and dropped off when turning on the lights. First thing I found was the fuse in the charging circuit was missing. Replacing it did not help so I got out the meter and found that the stator was putting out 30.5 volts ac at WOT but R/R was only showing battery voltage I went to change the R/R with a known good one and noticed that it was not grounded as it is mounted on the plastic shroud. I added a ground wire and it now charges fine. I am really amazed how nice and easy this EFI motor starts and idles right down. I think I am going to really like running this tractor when it is done.

I am glad to see that you are back on the forum again. Hope your recovery is going well for you. I know that all of us are pulling for you.

The only reason I am working on the 1872 is it is to wet to farm. As soon as it dries up I need to finish planting corn, 30 acres left and then 575 acres of beans. If I am lucky I will not have to replant any corn, but after the rain the other night who knows. I hope to get back on the 75 soon.

That thing is super sweet! your attention to detail is second to none!

I wish we could trade some dry for some of your wet... We haven't planted ANYTHING yet this year! It's WAY too dry! Anything in the ground here at the moment would just burn up!

Thanks Jay, I would love to have some dry weather to finish planting. I guess the only consolation is I might get this project done so I can start using it to mow grass. I have a spare hood and grille I might put on it, install the mower deck and see how it drives mowing grass.

Default Finally some Red color.
I decided to install the mower deck and a spare hood and grill I have and start used the repowered 1872 to mow. It runs and drives just great, the EFI 28 hp Command does not break a sweat even when it cut into some thick tall wet grass. This has to be the best driving, most comfortable Cub Cadet I have ever driven, The engine is super quiet and very smooth. I do have a idler on the deck that needs a new bearing.

Tractor with 60 inch late model deck that I adapted to work on the 1872. Deck will have to wait to get painted after the crops get planted if it ever dries up.

I started yesterday morning final sanding the sheet metal that is to be painted Red. I then washed it down with wax and grease remover, tacked it off and sprayed it with two coats of reduced Epoxy primer as a sealer. This morning I skuffed the parts with a ultra fine scotch brite pad to remove some dust nubs, washed again with W&G remover tacked it off and sprayed two coats of IH 2150 Red with hardener added. After a 3 hr dry I again tacked the parts off and sprayed two wet coats of high solids polyurethane clear with a 30 minute flash time between coats. As you can see the parts look great. I will let the parts cure for two days and start installing them. Hope you enjoy. I had some custom decals made for it but you will have to wait to see them after the sheet metal is installed
