Well, as Alan said, I've been busy. Not much else to do when the Christmas shopping is done (thanks, Amazon.com), the decorations are all up and the cookies are all made. Just to keep everyone in the spirit of the season, I've included some pics of our 3 outside trees and the fruits of our cookie baking session last Saturday.
Now, back to the cub! Mounted the front tires and the seat. Had a heck of a time breaking the bead on one of the front tires. The other was easy. I use the Harbor Freight mini-tire changer, which makes the task MUCH easier. Best $25 I've spent in a long time. Will replace wheel bearings, repaint the wheels and put them back on. Then, it's the rear wheels that will come off for some fresh paint. Sorted out the issue with the ignition switch. A lead came off the PTO fuse holder. Got that back on, and everything seems to be working correctly now. Still on the list to complete: wiring lights plus new switch brake pads relief valves Install grill, hood Decals Need to fit up a mule drive and 42 inch deck. And, possibly, find another 42inch snow blade to go with it.

Some snow would be nice. I might even hook up the snow thrower and test it out--haven't been able to use it yet. Unfortunately, most of the snow we get here is wet, slushy, a few inches deep and gone in a day or two.
I got the front wheels painted, and started wiring the lights. Waiting on the switch to arrive. Meanwhile, replaced the starter interlock switch which looked original and basically fell apart as I was checking it. Had a new one on hand so just put that one in.

Got the front and rear lights wired, and switch installed, but forgot I needed a fuseholder, Need to pick that up. I'll get one to fit under the PTO fuse.
Hydro relief valves arrived and are installed. Bought a piece of expanded metal sheet and cut out a piece to fill in the grill. Painted it yellow. Decals arrived, so that's next. Waiting on brake pads. Looks like it will be finished by Christmas. The kids have no idea Santa is arriving on a classic Cub Cadet.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
