Here is the scoop attachment i'd like to get running. Its missing the arm to raise and lower the lift and the hoses to operate the tile but overall seems promising for a custom fab. the previous owner spent some time putting this together but the owner before me said he never used this attachment.
The arm for the snow plow is a bit shorter than what this would need to work, I suppose I could bring the required dimensions to a machine shoe to make this piece and cobble the hoses together with some stuff from tsc. Id be happy to hear your takes or cautions on trying this thing out. |

Well the last few days has been challenging with the 1650 that some of you guys may recall from years back. The k341 in it has been hard to start ever since I bought it 10 or 12 years ago. Recently it's been smoking badly, reminded me of the skeeter sprayers of old. I've had the donor engine for a while and finally time to swap. It came from an Aries tractor with a bad trans.
The caveat is this engine has the deep fall bottom pan that bolts to the frame and isn't a direct swap into these tractors. I had planned to mount on some 1/4"x2" bar stock. That changed after some thought. I have a roper parts machine that I got for the engine. I remembered that v-twin was bolted to a flat plate. I scavenged the plate trimmed for length as width was nearly perfect. I first tried bolting the new engine in but the bolts didn't give clearance to the oil pan so I welded it in, really didn't want to alas we do what we have to do. So now the plate is in and a trip to the store for longer bolts the motor is in its new home. All's that left is mount the accessories and go through the carb, maybe.. Next project with this machine is try to make the cat-0 I had on the 1782 that burned up to work on the 1650. I know it's not a direct fit but with some creative fab work and a few project tractors I think I can make it a reality..wish me luck.. I'm attaching a video of the old engine for you guys, I can't promise it has no colorful language though I don't recall in my narration.. https://photos.app.goo.gl/xMTexmbFU4CS1hacA

This 10 month 782 restoration project comes to a close. Operating a just restored Cub where everything is working as it should and no fluids leaking is quite a thrill. She's ready now for another 44 years of service.

It will be a worker, they all have to earn their keep around here. After six complete Cub restorations, this 782 is the last one for me. Finding NOS parts, even some salvage and Kohler parts has become way too difficult bringing them back to stock. I don't mind the restoration work, just enjoy using them more.

A few weeks ago, my 126 stopped moving while I was cutting grass with it. I finally got time to look at it this weekend. I checked the pins in the driveshaft first, and they were all good. I noticed the shift lever for the creeper gear had no resistance, so I assumed the problem was in there. When I pulled the drain plug out, the pin from the fork fell out. The hole is worn out of round, I drilled it out and put the next size bigger pin in there. It seemed to fit tight, hopefully it stays this time. I put it back together and cut grass. Everything was going good until the mule drive belt shredded. I didn’t have a spare, so I finished with the 1440.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
