If I were you I'd only clean the deck with compressed air, and only wash the tractor with the deck off. That's a great way to rust out the deck.

Matt I figured that. I was able to get all of the water off the deck so there wasn't any standing water on it.

Default newby

New to this site, new cub owner. Was looking for a new mower and knew I wanted a GT, came across this 1872 for $1250, 54" deck (originaly 60"), 54" blade, around 400 Hrs on a new engine. Has the original literature folder containing every receipt for anything bought for or done to it (original owner), including the original invoice - 1/27/90,$5199. Second owner wasn't as thorough, but obviously took good care of it. I've spent the last week reading this site and I must say, I am impressed, hat's off to the administraters and all the members who are so helpful. Since I have been reading the site, I know better than to post without pics, so here ya go;
Guess I should say a little about me, I'm a recently retired (34 yrs) sheet metal worker (Kansas City) living on 3 acres in a rural community just south of St. Joe, MO. That's my best buddy ever on the tractor, my 8 yr old grandson.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
