Back on the Original today.
Got the break installed and axle and tube attached to the trans. Then after it got warm enough in the shop, applied some primer.
Then took the carb out of a three day soaking in the cleaner. Got it ready for a carb kit. Finished the throttle control and add it to the done pile
Edit; looking at the Break Band Pivot Pin in the picture, looks like I HAVE it in backwards, have to look tomorrow...

Looks great Todd. You going to put some dummy bolts in place while you paint. In thinking you're keeping your bolts just bare shined up metal with some clear right?

Todd, thanks for that great pic of the brake setup in the axle tube. I had one let go in my lo-boy and its set up the same way, nice seeing what it should look like when finished. Great job as always!

I was going to leave them plated. But after going back and forth, paint, don't paint I decided PAINT. In the beginning of this project I wanted to just clean things up and make it look good.
But as time went along I wanted it as close to the day it rolled off the line as I could make it, and the only way to accomplish that was if the bolts were painted.
So if you will, I guess I'm going for a restoration rather than a "face lift" as was originally planned
I mean I'm so far into this thing already with everything being disassembled I figure I may as well go all the way, and not short change myself.....
Hopefully, the only thing that won't look original to the tractor will be the tires (Hopefully)
All I can do is the best I can do, and hope it's good enough!!!

Todd,
I love the look of clean freshened parts in primer. Great shots of the O restOratiOn!
Temp looks good for painting, and your shop always looks neat and tidy!
I see your point on the bolts, paint vs non. It will look very good.
You shooting this one with a gun?
Regards,
Chris

Got back into the Original today.
Working with the clutch controls and connections. Having trouble getting the clutch shaft bearing off..... this isn't pressed on is it? I wouldn't think so, but then again I've never had one off before.

Also noticed the outside portion has worn significantly on the one side.... ideas?

Just a guess, but I believe what your referring to as worn is actually the eccentric that the shaft collar locks to on the bearing. I took my O clutch apart last week, had to purswade the bearing off as it had worn a lip in the driveshaft that it didn't want to slide over.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
