Hey guys,
I got into tractors as a kid, then moved into a city and was a city boy for years. Now I'm married, have a child, and have started my own mechanic and lawn care business. This year I finally got to have my own tractor again. I wanted something strong, versatile, and reliable. Did some research, as I was not knowledgable in this field, and finally settled on finding a solid Cub Cadet for myself. Ended up getting this 1972 129 model, including a trailer to haul it, a snow plow, a 38" deck, and tire chains. Have put easily 30 hours of working on it since I bought it two weeks ago resealing things, changing fluids, pressure washing it, tuning it up, etc (more on these projects in the forum area). I would like to share my newfound pride and joy with all of you (both of them pictured, my daughter as well). |

It's been so long since I've been able to be excited over a tractor. Driven a few riding lawn mowers over the years, but they're just like an overgrown walk-behind really. This thing is STOUT.
As annoying as the green knob is to the eye, it's gotta be my favorite thing on the tractor. It makes mowing a breeze. Just need a white or yellow one Next on the list is new tread on all four sides and finding out where my considerable engine oil leak is from. I know where the hydro leaks (yay, time to split the tractor!) |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
