Nice bike! I keep a old CRF around for when I feel the urge to go bashing through the trees.

Each summer I ride a few AMA D14 enduros.

I don't compete - I'm rather new at the two-wheel gig. Your CRF is very sharp looking. I hope someone (besides KTM) will make a 450 that is factory street legal and has the reliability of some of the greats: DR/DRZ/XR/KLR... We want performance and relieability - if it can be had. Come on Japan!!!

Until then the DRZ will have to do - I can't afford to go Orange.

Not sure the two play well together. The high revving nature of the modern four stroke, will always require "race schedule" (expensive) maintenance.

The one I posted earlier is a 250.

I did spend some time racing a 2006 Honda CRF450R, I thought it was quite reliable, for what it was. But it was too much of a handful in the woods. It was not very forgiving, when you got fatigued and made any mistakes. The 250 is plenty fast, it is more capable than the rider!

Back in the day, I was riding XR's, when XR's weren't cool!

ATK offered a kit to put the drivetrain from an XR, into one of their frames. Less than 25 were ever built, but I was one of the silly fools that built one.

The first time I built it, I used a 1986 XR600R, that I had bought new. I flogged that iteration for several years.




Then later rebuilt it with a 1991 donor bike, got me better forks, rear disc brake and an 18" rear wheel.







Spent a lot of time with that motorcycle.

I sold it not long after I rode a CRF for the first time.

And yes, the "orange" guys (KTM) are everywhere! Every race is like a pumpkin patch, flying through the woods!

Gonna pull the carbs off this 1100 Maxim today, Im trying to sell it but theres no vacumn while cranking so its being a pita to start. I bought it last year thinking I would ride it but then found an 1100 Shadow I like better, Maxim should be an easy sell if I get it starting properly.

I am a fan of the early 80s Suzuki GS series. Currently in my stable
'81 GS450L bought new by my uncle
'81 GS850G (pictured ) currently torn down for regasketing and head work
'80 GS850G should have it ready to ride this summer.
