Glad to see you're making progress. I suspect powdercoat is just like plating or any kind of painting , the better the prep, the better the final product.


I'm a big believer in brake cleaner as a degreaser .... works good and banned in California. What more do you need to know?

The seats are pretty comfy! I like them better then the other pan seats I've sat in.

It's nice to be making some progress but this project has slowed down some but I've got a load ready to go Thanks to Adam's help.

I'm letting the powder coater and body shop do their own prep work as they are the experts.

Brake cleaner is great stuff but I'm going to pass on the CA stuff.

Matt you've got me thinking now. We didn't see any primer under the paint so with everything else it's hard to tell what happened when they did this. I was told it was powder coating but we did find lots of stuff painted

It was in really great shape body panel wise for straightness just the paint flaking off the white I dont thing had so much of the problem! That hood was really nice!

Basically some one started it and some one that didnt care finished it.
And yep the seat pan was surprisingly confortable!

The lynch pin threw me for a loop.

Both of the hoods are in prefect shape with no dents or dings. even the braces were in great shape.

It burns me that they didn't have any pride in their work. Those mistakes will not be made twice when they are sent to their new homes.

those cast pins are super high in shear strength!( NOT !) :-)

Sounds like it was a good "20 footer". I think mine is destined to be a "100 yarder".

Thanks but when I'm done with it will show the pride that I have in my work. I'm building these for his kids and grand kids to have for their life times.
