My Only Cub Cadet 100 Straight From the Junk Yard
Please make comments or recommendations for improvements. The tractor and mower deck where put together with stainless steel bolts, flat washers, nylon locking nuts. Paint was supplied and applied by Kenny Lane Body Shop, Columbus, OH. using a paint designed to reduce chipping. The motor is a K301A 12HP.
I refurbished this Cub with one thing in mind how much work will I be able to accomplish in style. The Cub is back mowing yards, plowing, dozing and roto-tilling gardens. During a recent plow day myCub performed like a new tractor even keeping up with John Deere 420 diesel garden tractors. Not bad for being 43 years old . |

Looks great! However, beware of SS bolts...most hardware store bolts SS bolts are only about as strong as grade 2 bolts, and therefore not strong enough for anything structural on the tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
