Here's my 1650. It's in need of a little TLC but it works like a cub.

pics of day. after i got 102, then custom exhaust and plow, and lastly added lights. not a resto by any means but damn fun to work on. Gonna do a better job of the weights on the back, maybe weld up a tray that bolts to bottom bracket to hold weights which are from an old exercise machine.

its raining here in SE PA(ill get some pics tomorrow). Just some threaded pipe and elbow from home depot and a generic tractor muffler with a tip welded on. The icing is the old coffee can slipped over the muffler stuffed with fiberglass to avoid burning the paint off the hood.

Thanks. The 1330 is a fine machine for cutting grass, infact the best in a list of riding mowers ive had which includes a couple deeres and craftsman mowers but my focus here is the 102. This is the first shaft drive tractor ive had and it is just cool in every way. The fact that it has a real clutch, real trans, cast iron everything supported by a real frame in such a small package built before i was born and still runs just amazes me. Everything on this tractor was made to last(even the seat is in near perfect condition).
Took me a few hours to cut the front panel, space the lights, make brackets and run wires and switch for headlights. The tail light is a combination brake/turn signal light from pepboys that i welded a bracket to painted yellow. added silver reflectors on inside and replaced bulb with a 194 amber bulb and wired to ignition run so always on with engine running.
The plow was a bit trickier cause brackets were weird. Had cut and welded front bracket and weld ear on lift rod to work with plow, after winter gonna look for replacement front bracket so i can later put the deck on if i want, That deck needs alot of work, may look for a replacement aswell. its a work in progress but looks ready for snow work this year. got snow chains in package deal with plow.

started working on a cab enclosure today, priority was taken to not drill any holes and only use existing hardware. made a basic frame that just sits between reflectors and seat going up to a basic square frame for roof and supported by a center rod going to a hole on hood for missing trim. top material is canvas from a old convertible car. Right away i notice i need to add a bowed or several bowed supports in center to avoid too much snow sitting on roof. will get some heavy vinyl for surrounding walls that will just go straight down. im not planning on using in blizzard conditions so its very basic and just to keep snow off me while i play, i mean plow snow. If i need to make any tweaks (which most likely i will) to make better i will, not a problem. after all that i was thinking of getting some ducting hose to funnel some of the wasted heat from engine cylinder head into the cab. a little extra time and a welder, my wife just laughs.

I would not tie into the hood, as it is not structural. Plus, you won't be able to open it to put gas in or check the oil. Every cab made for these that I know of uses the footrests to mount the front of the cab, or something else in that general area.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
