Folks is it possible to attach a blower to the front of a 108? Is there a special option my 108 (other than the blower itself) that it needs to have for this attachment?

Yes it is and you'll need a creeper gear for it.

Ah bummer really!?!
Don't have a creeper on this 108 so I guess I'm going to have to wait for a plow. See, my drive way is in need of a re-pave so using a plow is just not an option. That is no cheap task so I was hoping to use a blower on my 108 rather than having to use the push blower I have now. |

Yeah but it would have been REALLY bad news if I bought the one I found online and drove 6 hours round trip to get it
![]() Not sure if it's really worth installing a creeper in this one because I can probably find a 108 with one installed online for a decent price. From what I read here I would have to cut the drive shaft to install one and that might be a little more than this mech can pull off for his first project. Think I'll start with headlights and move on up from there

It's really simple install to do and the factory drive shaft has the mark on the drive shaft where it needs to be cut and the sproil pin hole already. |

Methos I have been reading as much as I can on my 108 but can't seem to find anything on how the blower connects to my 108 if I had a creeper. Just trying to learn how this all works. Why is the creeper needed? Is it just because the tractor is to fast to blow without it or does the blower actually need it to connect up?

garnold: I believe that the creeper gear is favored for gear drive machines because speed control is a big issue in a snow throwing/blowing application. Something about getting the snow to feed into the blower so the blower can handle it properly. It all depends on the type of snow it is (dry/wet, fine/granular, etc.), how deep it is, how wide the cut is, etc.
I've heard reports that the only issue is the first cut, which is necessarily done at full width; after that, the width of the cut can be adjusted to the machine, instead of adjusting the machine to the cut (so-to-speak). So, again, from what I've read, it isn't that a gear drive can't blow snow; it's just that a gear drive + creeper is BETTER at blowing snow, and (for many), the hydro is BEST at blowing snow. (Although, I notice that the "gear heads" can be a stubborn lot; many of them just refuse to consider a hydrostatic for reasons other than performance --like difficult starting in cold weather . . .. )

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
