So far it's a sweet ride. Not sure I'd want to ride for long distances on the interstate but for back roads it's a ball.

Oh, to be young and uninformed again I used to take my '74 Kawasaki H1 500 triple on long trips all the time. Even 300 mile day rides were no big deal.

Now a 150 mile ride on the '93 ZR1100 makes for a required stop to stretch half way thru

Great looking bike Sam! Glad to see you get a Honda! I love "retro" bikes. A lot of the bike companies are coming out with retro bikes. Triumph has one, and I believe Moto Guzzi does too. I like the older bikes, period (I ride one, lol).

My younger bro is really into the cafe racers... but I don't care for them. He rides a '77 Goldwing, and it's really sharp. He's done some custom stuff to it, and so far I still like it. Hope he doesn't go too far. Looks really good right now!

While I'm here, I added some hard saddle bags to my '84 Shadow this week. Pretty happy with the results. They were just some cheapy's off E-Bay, but they ended up looking good! (I think so anyway.) They came with some POS cheap mounts, so I made my own. Pretty solid. The bags don't shake much at all!

Jeff, maybe I'm still too young. I was thinking pretty hard about riding to LaPlata, MD to see my bro on this bike. Like 600 miles.

I've been mostly a Honda owner over the years. Pics I found on the net of what I've owned over the years starting with a free to me when I was about 12 because it wouldn't run Honda 50. Then a CL77, followed by an XR500R and lastly a XR200R.

I'd bet a dollar your Shadow isn't as "buzzy" as my ZR1100. That's what does me in. Enjoy the ride

Default New Suspension on 2007 HD Road King

Got the suspension changed out on the Road King from the crappy stock 1940's technology to something much much better. Went with Ohlin emulsion shocks in the rear and Ohlin dual cartridge in the front forks, one rebound, one compression.

Rear was a 20 minute job, Front fork removal, demo and re-install was a bit of a beyotch, but had it done in 2 days. So far so good, shocks are working their way in a bit, but one hell of an improvement over bumpy roads and curves....my butt stays in the seat which is novel!!



Installed chrome lowers at same time, costing an extra $900 for full kit parts. Total cost for suspension was around $2800, to make a Harley bagger ride like a Yamaha... But I still cover it with a Honda bike cover when out so it wont get stolen, like who would steal a Honda?
