You did what? All as Cad was saying was that the vent had to be open and not plugged. What'd you do, spray carb cleaner in the hole?

I took the bowl off and sprayed carb cleaner in that hole. Made sure it came out easy and clean. Could that have really helped that much?

I normally soak these carbs in a gallon of Gunk then blow out the ports with carb cleaner. I guess I might have not done that good of a job on this one. I'll be running this cub as much as possible to work out the kinks.

Did you readjust the carb? I still think you were running lean.
Did you have the air filter on when driving it? |

I agree that some adjusting is still in order. I didn't realize that the air filter made a difference when tuning the carb. Now I always put it back on when testing. That was a good tip.

I was really more wondering because I've seen people block that vent hole with the air horn gasket...... |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
