I wouldn't think you would need an adjustable mount since the clutch already moves to tighten the belt. My plan was to still use the driveshaft, clutch plates and fabricate a sprocket for the bottom with clutch material on it to swap out the pulley with. My thought was chains don't need to be TIGHT, so once you got it secure, it should stay that way.

Maybe I'll have to figure something out and do a build thread on it?

I would sill rig a spring laded idler in there just to be safe. And keep you from constantly adjusting

Definitely something to pursue, should the need arise. I'll see how the belt holds up and go from there.

So, anybody else currently pullin' one of these belt-driven underdogs?

Just returned from the pull today. Happy to report that the little 3/8" belt had enough grip to pull the front wheels and stall my 10hp Kohler at WOT in second gear. Adding another 80+ lbs of weight really helped it grip. We're now at 1030lbs in the 1050 class.

But, it was enough to come in first place at the monthly C5rider's Family Pulling Championship! Went one foot further than my son this time. Usually he gets me by mere inches. The trash talk already started on the way home. He informed me he's already got plans and new techniques for next month's pull.

Can't let the youngins win EVERY time!

Have not see it but have heard of pullers twisting axles into two pices with the belt drive O's.
