I was looking at that carb in the link and the most sellers had bad reviews on carbs and other stuff in the recent months. One seller in Ky. is the only one I might take a chance on if cleaning it out does not work. Here's some pictures. ccc19.jpg ccc20.jpg ccc21.jpg ccc22.jpg ccc23.jpg ccc24.jpg |

Looks like a nice solid 1864. Good luck on the kit, keep us posted on your progress.
Always better to try to rebuild the original stuff but nothing wrong with a cheap aftermarket piece if it's plug and play and works. That's always a gamble tho' You could install one of the cheap carbs while you are rebuilding and let us know what you think. |

Those cheap carbs seem to be " hit or miss," if they are going to work. I recently put 2 on small engines. One carb worked fine. Another one I bought, I had to work on some, before it functioned. Still , cheap enough.

I guess you get what you pay for and sometimes you get lucky. I would probably buy a carb and cross my fingers.

I've used several of the ebay carbs linked to above. They've all worked right out of the box. Though a couple of them seemed to run rich they did still work better than the original.
I have tried rebuilding several also, success has been worse than the new carbs. I'm pretty sure my problem with the kits is the tiny o-rings on the emulsion tube. I also had a couple the emulsion tube break when removing them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
