It's very much appreciated sam. Can be a pain looking up parts on my phone.

I've been talking to Jason about our clutch replacements. They won't sell a large diameter pulley for a 782 because of the over speeding of the deck for liability reasons so if you decide to do it anyway it will be on you. I'm waiting for him to get back to me. One thing you will need to measure is your shaft length from the shoulder where it steps up in diameter to the end. My shaft is 2-11/16" X 1".

If you want more info PM me your phone #

Default Sleeve?

Hi Everyone! I got a 2072 basket case which is in the process of becoming a 982, I love the Red Cubs, but I have a 18 Command in it with a 1 inch outer shaft on the crank. I have 3 extra pto units that are for bigger shaft. What is this sleeve I have heard mentioned and where can I find one? Also, put in a 782 an Onan from a 318 J.D. with the bigger crank and 7 inch pulley and it mowed Awesome.....till the idler pulley for the belt tensioner melted. Replaced pulley then burned up clutch! Put 44 inch deck back on my 982! Although the Onans are expensive, I like the Torque, and the ride is alot better on the 982!

Contact member Jeffinpa. You'll need a 1"ID X 1-1/8"OD bushing with a 1/4" keyway slot and a piece of 1/4" X 5/16" keyway stock.

He will need to measure the length of his shaft. Key stock can be cut when he gets ready to put the PTO on. Shaft on my engine is 2-11/16" long.

Would like to Thank Everyone for pointing me in Jeff in Pa direction! He is making the bushing for me and now I can use PTO units I have instead of buying a new one! Thanks Again! Bill Peden.

The only deck I have experience on over speeding is the 46" GT high vac deck. I did it only to see the result.

The result? The deck didn't cut any better but the noise level increased considerably. Annoyingly. It did allow me to slow the engine speed down to allow the deck speed back to normal but then, the engine was lugging a little.

Bad deal so I changed it back. Your results may vary.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
