Ok,good news bad news I took out the drive shaft again popped off the cover on the charge pump and flipped it.Good news the rear wheels now spin and seem to work as they should but it's still jacked up with the wheels off the ground.Bad news is I still seem to have no power steering and the lift does not work either.Could it still be air bound? any ideas I only had about an hour to mess with it tonight and hope to have more time tomorrow. Thanks for the help so far and I hope to get it all working .It's hard to work on something you have no idea what has been messed with before.

Bob, it could be air. How long did you let it run?

Another thing to check is line routing. Seen more than once someone hooked up the lines incorrectly. |

I admit I did not run it very long so could be just needs more time.I have replaced the filter with one from Cub Cadet and new fluid .When you said J-Mech about the lines being run wrong it rang a bell.I myself switched two on an 1872 and caused the same symptoms. Thanks again all and I will check everything carefully tomorrow.

Your charge pump is 180 off, flat side goes to the right side of the tractor. You owe me.
Jon you have to buy the beer for missing that one.

I really hope it is a crossed line someplace like I wrote in an earlier post I have done it myself but right at the pump but hose are right.I don't own pressure gauges good excuse to buy more tools.I do have 2 or three pumps and could switch out a relief valve .I have zero experience inside the hydro unit so I have been studying the parts diagram.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
