If the lumber wasn't grown here, there would be more US made stuff at Harbor Freight than Lowes

I'm sure craftsman tool will show up everywhere shortly since Sears doesn't own them anymore... But I seriously doubt they will ever be US made again..

If Lowes starts selling craftsman tools, I wonder if they will honor the lifetime replacement on screwdrivers. I have about 10 or so that need replaced, and all the Kmarts and Sears stores near me are either vacant carcasses, or have been demolished.

I had to pop into Lowes today, same guy was there and he said that Stanley BD would be honoring the lifetime warranty, and that Lowes would be doing like-item exchanges only on hand tools. If it's something they won't be carrying, you'd have to go to the craftsman website or call a number. Again, 3rd hand info.
The guy seemed to think that Lowes would be carrying
Craftsman brand OPE as well.

Their ratchet look nice! Most of their wrench look like the Gearwrench Chinese made brand, good enough for "weekend warrior", I wish they rise from the dead the Professional series.

I'm not impress by their toolbox, the new HF US General series 2 look better, which one got the most rugged construction? I hope someone check the sheet metal gauge of both and comeback with his result, I wonder if the HF use thicker material.

It's very likely Irwin made your original set of taps for craftsman. They have been re-branding tools for craftsman, snap-on, mac, and others since they started over 100 years ago. However. your right. Todays irwin tap will not stand up to years before irwin made or craftsman made tap. Same with drill bits. The reason. Simply put. All the stuff today gets made with recycled crap. Today, They want stuff to break. Unfortunately no one gives lifetime on cutting tools with one exception. I have 1 set of Snap-On drill bits I purchased about 20 years ago. They are cobalts and at the time Snap-on gave lifetime on them. They cost about double what the regular set should be but I have gotten my monies worth back in broken bits over the years.. I think Snap on stopped giving lifetime on these for obvious reasons and last 2 new Snap on dealers I have had I had to prove to them that they had lifetime on them lol.. Glad I kept that paperwork!
