He cant test it until he gets it to run, I would change the regulator and the coil before trying to start it again and hope it doesnt blow another coil.

Ive read where people have adjusted a regulator but Ive never tried myself, I figure if it isnt putting out the proper voltage then something in it is probably near ready to fail anyway so I just replace them.

Let's determine that the coil is bad before we go throwing parts @ it or guessing what the problem is, would be the sensible way to approach a no spark condition.
Check for voltage @ the coil with key on, etc. etc.

Don't replace it.... That would still be throwing parts at it. You don't know it's broken yet. If your so worried about it, just disconnect it. You don't need a charging system to start it.


How about testing to see if you have power to the coil, points are working and such first. You still haven't given us anything to prove you have a bad coil...

Just to give further detail, it ran, quit, had no spark, changed coil, it ran, quit, and had no spark again

Your point?

Just because you replace the coil and it loses spark again doesn't prove the coil is bad. Not saying a new coil can't fail, because it can, it's just not as likely.

Disconnected grey wire from B terminal (middle connector correct? Everything including wires are painted yellow)
Still no start. What should I try now? Thanks

And, the 2nd coil wasn't new, it was off a running k241
